NanoFlash brings together researchers working in chemistry, biophotonics, neuroscience, computational design and experimental neuro-ophthalmology.

The shared aim is to explore whether soft, light-responsive nanoactuators could help reactivate selected pathways in a damaged retina. The work is at an early research stage.

What begins now?

The team is developing materials, refining how they could reach the intended retinal cells and planning a stepwise validation programme.

  • Design soft, light-responsive materials.
  • Explore how they could reach selected retinal cells.
  • Build evidence in increasingly complete research models.

A careful starting point

Each stage is designed to answer a focused question before the research moves towards a more complex model. You can read more on the Science page.
